A Small Group Making an Extraordinary Difference
The St. Elizabeth of Hungary Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul began in 2003, founded by parishioners of Annunciation Catholic Church in Columbus, Mississippi. What started as a commitment to serve our neighbors has grown into an extraordinary legacy of compassion, generosity, and hope.
Since our founding, we have provided more than $1 million in assistance to residents of Lowndes County. Behind that number are real people, real families, and real challenges met with a helping hand when it mattered most.
We are a close-knit group of dedicated volunteers whose years of service, life experience, and steadfast faith fuel our mission. We may be small in number, but our commitment is mighty. Day after day, we see how practical assistance and a caring heart can ease a burden, restore dignity, and give someone hope for tomorrow.
We believe that no act of kindness is too small, no neighbor should be forgotten, and no one should have to face hardship alone.
Mission
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a Catholic lay organization that brings women and men together to grow spiritually through person-to-person service to people experiencing need and hardship. Following the example of our founder, Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, and our patron, St. Vincent de Paul, we strive to serve every person with compassion, respect, and dignity. Our work is about more than paying a bill or providing an essential household item. It’s about easing worry, helping families through difficult seasons, and reminding our neighbors that someone cares.
